10 Days/ 10 Nights

Cestnut eared Aracari

Explore the Eastern Andes, enchanting home of the Muisca culture, and capture unique birdlife.

The tour begins from: Bogotá.

Location: East Andes Range (Cundinamarca and Boyaca).

This photography tour takes you to the best locations to capture the breathtaking birdlife of Cundinamarca and Boyacá, two regions nestled in the heart of Colombia. Renowned for their exceptional ecological diversity, these areas feature awe-inspiring cloud forests, pristine páramos, and picturesque Andean valleys. The páramo ecosystem, unique to the tropical Andes, is a critical water source for surrounding communities, with iconic páramos like Chingaza and Sumapaz showcasing rare flora such as frailejones, mosses, and orchids thriving in their misty embrace.

The birdlife here is unparalleled. Marvel at the shimmering Golden-bellied Starfrontlet, the vibrant Flame-faced Tanager, and the charming Wire-tailed Manakin, alongside iconic species like the Chestnut-eared Toucan and the endemic Bogotá Rail. These birds, set against stunning landscapes, make this region a paradise for bird photographers.

Cultural richness complements the natural beauty. The people of Cundinamarca and Boyacá honor their Muisca heritage through sacred sites, artisanal crafts, and farming traditions. Their deep connection to the land ensures the preservation of these fragile ecosystems, making every photograph a testament to the harmony between nature and culture in this remarkable part of Colombia.
