Harpy Eagle
Expedition - Photo Tour
12 days / 12 nights

Harpy Eagle, the largest and most powerful eagle of the World.
The tour begins from: Bogotá or Villavicencio.
Location: Serranía de la Macarena (Meta).
In the lush canopy of Serranía de la Macarena, the harpy eagle reigns as one of the forest’s most formidable predators. With powerful talons and a wingspan that can exceed seven feet, this majestic bird dominates its territory. Nesting high in the towering trees, harpy eagles typically establish more than five nests, each strategically positioned for optimal hunting and protection.
These nests, often adorned with branches and foliage, serve as safe havens for their young. A female typically lays one or two eggs, which she incubates for about 56 days. Once hatched, the chicks are reliant on their parents for food, primarily consisting of monkeys and sloths. The parents exhibit remarkable care, with the male often bringing food while the female stays close to the nest.
As the chicks grow, they begin to explore their surroundings, showcasing their powerful wings. The bond between harpy eagles and their young exemplifies the dedication of this magnificent species to its lineage.
